Sustainable Transportation System

Skyweb Elevated Guideways
PRT vendors claim that this mode of transportation uses less than one third the energy per passenger mile of automobiles and public
transit. Although this has not been verified it is likely to prove correct for three reasons:
- Personal Rapid Transit is non-stop and so little energy is expended accelerating.
- PRT travel is relatively slow and so little energy is expended combating wind resistance.
- PRT systems should have less need to move empty vehicles around in off-peak periods.
Personal Rapid Transit systems have fewer emissions because they use less energy. Typically electrically powered, the
emissions are associated with those of the power plant that is typically out of town and systems
may even be augmented with clean energy such as solar or wind.
Rubber tires on concrete or steel, low weight and speed all combine to produce less noise and vibration.

Most importantly, Personal Rapid Transit's high level of service is expected to attract many more riders than conventional transit.
